Jordan Walking holidays & trekking adventures

Jordan is one of the smaller countries in the Middle East, which means that it’s easy to see its major attractions is a short space of time on a guided walking holiday without feeling rushed. There are world-renowned archaeological wonders to behold from Jerash - one of the largest and best-persevered Roman cities – to Petra, the amazing Rose-Red Nabatean city hewn from solid rock. A journey into the desert to Wadi Rum reveals soaring rock formations, an impressive natural rock arch and a night sky studded with brightly shining stars, best enjoyed from the comfort of a hospitable Bedouin camp.

For walking, Dana Nature Reserve is hard to beat. Jordan’s largest nature reserve has many hiking trails along its wadis (dry riverbeds), which explore arid mountains and valleys plus a few areas where precious water brings life. By contrast, the salt-laden waters of the Dead Sea are devoid of any living creatures; but this evaporating sea provides the unique experience of being able to float effortlessly on its surface
